Did anyone else update their blogger stuff so that now its weird? I did, and that is why I hadn't posted in a while. Thank goodness I just figured out how to switch it from HTML to compose, because now it makes sense again and I can write you beautiful blog posts, YAY!
I guess again I don't have much to say. This is the first post of the year for me though, so I feel like it should be epic. Whats been going on in our world, not much. But I guess that's usual, cuz by not much, in our world that means alot, but its all the same alot as it always is. We had a good Christmas, I finished my schooling with the end of the semester, and Travis enjoyed a week or so without work and school before the start of school this week. He's entering his final semester.
We had a bit of a stressful new years, we got one week notice before rent was due that rent was doubling because we lost our assistance. It seems like it should have happened sooner than now because the reasoning wasn't that I was done with school or anything just that now we make too much money for assisted housing-and I didn't have any changes in income except when I reported my new job back in August. But we'll count our blessings that it didn't happen till now, and we've decided to stay put. Theres other housing that doesn't cost as much as our place does at market value, but ours in reasonable for Fairbanks prices, and we have a pretty perfect situation with neighbors, so, home is still here.
On the fun side of new years though, we played it cool by tearing up the dance floor at the youth dance. Haha. We're stake DJ's together, which means Travis sat at the equipment supplying the music, and I got kids out there dancing. It was great fun. They popped balloons at midnight and in the gym though and it about gave me a headache, I guess I'm getting old.
Today for church, we only had sacrament meeting due to the weather. Its been hovering around -45 all weekend, and this year in general seems to have more cancelled church meetings than I remember ever having cancelled in my life. I was glad though today because I wasn't ready for primary due to all the stress of helping Travis broadcast high council talks. Travis usually doesn't need my help with the technology side-but today he had to work, and so I had to do the broadcast. It was terrifying and stressful because I am not a technology person, but Travis said it was a success (he watched it from work). It is really amazing though, Sis Gardner, our RS president used to have a stake calling and had to speak on high council Sunday to a branch-and she said then they called and delivered their talk over the phone. So she said she was at home, getting ready for her talk in another ward wearing her pajamas and curlers in her hair, while the high councilman was at his home and they were both on the phone with the members in the remote branches. Crazy stuff. I think its much better this way, after the sacrament, I sat in the stake clercks office manning the camera and computer for the live broadcast to the Tok branch, and recorded it for North Slope Branch to watch during their meeting time. You could even check it out if your interested, just go to
www.fairbanksstake.org, it should be posted. Excuse my unprofessional camera-ing skills, the camera joy stick is really really touchy. Good talks, the topics were courage and peace.
Anyways, Dance session 3 is about to start, maybe. If it doesn't warm up class is cancelled. Yikes. Hate to cancel the first class. With Travis' help, I've created the a website for my dance buisness. magicrhythmsdance.com :) I love it. I decided to make the website after emailing back and forth with another potential student group, it be much eaiser to send them to my website than to email forever and forever with them. Travis is gonna be crazy busy, he's picking up extra hours at work and finishing school, and if it will ever get posted, he'll apply for a full time staff position.
Crazy stuff. Thats whats goin on in our world.
