Remember that time when Mel hit a pedestrian and Travis caught himself on fire?

Forgot to mention, I got off work one day last week, made it to campus to get Travis from work, and on our way home, stopped at a light, looked left, right, and left again before commencing my R turn onto University Ave, was watching the L (to avoid any oncoming traffic) and then Travis said "MeeeeEEEElanie!!" So I turned my head and my heart dropped, I hit the brake but mangaged to still tap that poor frightened looking girl on her bike!  :(  Worst feeling ever!  I was frozen there looking around like a scared rabbit trying to figure out what happened and where she came from, meanwhile she made her way safely to the other side of the cross walk (Which I observed did not have the Go signal but the stop signal very well lit)  I rolled down the window and choked out "A-a-are you okay?" "Yes" was her reply as she was assesing her leg and her bike, "Are you sure?"  I asked" "and she nodded in relief apparently deciding that she was in fact okay.  And then we drove off, and I am still terrified of Right turns.

To be fair,

Travis caught himself of fire a few months ago!

He was putting a pizza in the oven, and then closed the door, and we were standing there facing eachother and talking, and we both noticed it, but he after about a min said "Does something smell like its burning to you?"  "Yeah" I replied.  He looks around, and then I saw the flames...

"Travis, there, there!"
"Where?" he asked as he waved around the oven mitt fueling the flame.  "OH!"
And he blew it out.
We then laughed, because that was kinda like the cartoons how it all happened so fast and the surprise and shock.  Anyways.....

We are such a threat to society.

Lazy days of June-not so lazy

Some of the things we've been doing this month:

Work
Dance Lessons for Husbands whose wives dance
Work
I've started teaching a couple the Waltz for their wedding
Work
New Sound and lights for church dances-success at YSA dance
Hot licks Ice Cream
2 for $3 fresh pineapple
Rachel and JJ wedding
Midnight Sun Run in 1 hr 45 mins
Followed by Free Massages (and I almost tried the free accupuncture)
Started work on the old Subaru (we named Alfred)  Turns out it WAS the timing belt.  Ours was LITTERALLY SHREDDED!  Travis is hopeful no bent valves = quick fix in belt replacement.  I am convinced that Angels started our car all winter.
More Work-I cleaned and organized the entire Autoclave room and stocked all the exam rooms on Friday, by my self (Dr Soto was out camping, Lynette went home early)
I got to be Paul Winklemans TA on Monday for some community workshops.  Made my night!
....Then travis and I both got sick and we missed two days of work and I couldn't go to the second half of Pauls Workshops.  Totally bummed.
But now we are feeling better and intend to be back at work tomorrow.
Also got to see my beautiful Sister Amanda and her beautiful baby girl Clara on Sunday, they are in town for 6 weeks and we are hoping to see them as much as possible (but being sick put a damper on those hopes, and we have to share her with the Hulls that live in town).

Here's to the last few days of June, we are looking forward to July!  We get some time off for Inependance Day (I get a day, Travis gets 3) and then later in the month we are headed to Seward with our friends Steven and Kendra for a Kenai Fjoirds tour.  SO excited for that.

My husband took me dancing

It is really a dream come true.

Whole story:

For almost 4 years now I've been asked, "Does Travis dance?"

"Not yet-but I have a whole lifetime to teach him" has been the standard reply.  The catch?  A wife (being the follow) has a very difficult task ahead of her trying to teach her husband (the lead) to dance.  Why?  Its just backwards, I can teach leads to dance, but not when I'm dancing with them.  Usually, a lead needs to watch a lead in order to learn how to lead.  So, dance lessons at our house have been a huge frustration.

Well, until now-I'm so happy, I could squeal!

My cousin Nicole who I danced with in highschool, and her husband Alex are now in town and facing the same dilema.  So, my step Dad Rulon, came up with the idea to hold weekly lessons geared at teaching men who's wifes already dance.  ITS FANTASTIC!

I really as you all know have ALWAYS always, my whole life loved dancing, but now, I get to dance with the love of my life.  It makes it that much more fun because it eliminates the awkwardness of social dancing with strangers like the former discomfort in being too close or worrying about if they think you smell.  Also, I get to be the student again, and all those couples jokes we crack in classes we teach now apply to us which is fun and silly.  And, moving in sync together in this way just deepens my affections and joys with Travis.  I don't know why, I don't know how, but its truly wonderful.  I can't wait till next week.  :)

Vacation Part 2

So, we left Oklahoma again as planned after I wrote that last post (I can't nail down the day-those ones blurred into one) and on Saturday Partied it up with the family in Colorado for Paige's Graduation. After Church on Sunday (BTW it was really nice to go to Sunday School and Relief Society-but I spent the time slightly envious of my nieces and nephews who were singing away in Primary) we packed up and went to the mountains for some chillaxin at the Family Cabin. Its a beautiful place.

Tree Grew around a rock, uprooted and somewhere in the process cracked the rock! Right in half!

With a great legacy!  Travis' Great Grampa Opie and Grama Francis built it-located in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, it stands as a refuge for many family members who frequent its walls year after year.  And-etched in the door way to the kitchen are the heights of all of Fancis and Opie's posterity.  I love it.  We spent 4 days up there, then had to come back down the hills so Teri and Trinity could regroup before heading back to Oregon/Utah.

They left on Thursday-and shortly thereafter Travis and I with Traci, Keith, Cindy, and Skip went to the Denver Temple.  We spent the afternoon there doing both an endowment Session and Sealing Session.  Followed by a trip to Deseret Book, and dinner at Cinzetti's!! (BTW, Better than Olive Garden!-except the Breadsticks, no beating Olive Garden Breadsticks!)

After our Thursday at the Temple, we spent our Friday at the Zoo!  Robin, the Giraffe's are for you!

After the Zoo Days, we lazed around, and packed up, and came back to Alaska.  Beautiful Green grass sprung while we were away, and the Tree's turned into Summer Trees (they were just sprouting spring leaves).  It amazes me how fast alaska Transforms into Summer.

We're looking forward to the rest of the summer-we have lots of work ahead of us mingled with plenty of play.  I want to do the Midnight Sun Run and Drag Travis along with me.

MY friend Kendra also said she and some of the ladies in her ward will do a half marathon at the end of the summer-I figure no better time than now right?

We also have a Kenai Fjoirds tour scheduled in July
Want to get lots of Camping and Hiking in
We're looking forward to lots of Youth Dances (Travis got approval for a new sound system)
I have some dance instruction lined up (wedding season!)

I almost wrote I look forward to slowing down-but it doesn't look like thats an option.  :-P

Wishing you all love and adventure!  Tata for now!
